Guests who stayed over the past 3 years are due a partial refund of their hotel (T.O.T) taxes.

I brought up the unconstitutional City of Trinidad tax increases in January 2022, when the City tried to increase them illegally again.

The Trinidad Bay Bed and Breakfast Hotel did not comply with their increase, and we demanded they reset the tax to 8%, which is what we collect. It took them months, but they did comply.

NEWS: Eureka Times-Standard
The Trinidad City Council is attempting to legally increase the city’s tourist occupancy tax after years of illegal tax collection resulting from unlawful increases to the tax.

Eligible tourists can contact the city via mail at P.O. Box 390. Trinidad, CA 95570 with the dates they visited the city, the address they want a check mailed to and where they stayed while visiting. From there, the city will contact the business which collected the tax, which will then provide the city receipts from the visit, and the city must calculate how much the tourist was overtaxed before issuing them a check.
